K, let's see who is the best here, shall we?

Hello Candidates! This is your first IGCSE exam, copying or cheating will result in an instant fail, so be wise :) (First question based on ratio, and second on percentage)

Question 1: A sum of money worth $26 consists of an equal number of 50 new penny pieces, 10 new penny pieces, and 5 new penny pieces. How many coins of each kind are there?

I have no idea about this...

Question 2: A reduction of 5% reduced an account by 17.5 (17 1/2). Find how much was paid.

The closest I can get is this:

5/100*x=17.5 like the normal questions, but when I subtract it by 17.5, it somehow gives the answer.

The answer for the first question is "16, 32, 64" and second one is "3.32 and 1/2"

Question 1: A sum of money worth $26 consists of an equal number of 50 new penny pieces, 10 new penny pieces, and 5 new penny pieces. How many coins of each kind are there?

26 dollar equals 50, 10 and 5 penny pieces.
First get the total of penny.
50 + 10 + 5 = 65
Now we know that 65 penny equals 26 dollar.
Last step is to find out how many dollars equals the groups.
Answers:
26 / 65 × 50 = 20 dollars for 50 penny.
26 / 65 × 10 = 4 dolars for 10 penny.
26 / 65 × 5 = 2 dollars for 5 pennys.
Check:
20 + 4 + 2 = 26
50 + 10 + 5 = 65

Question 2: A reduction of 5% reduced an account by 17.5 (17 1/2). Find how much was paid.

Things you know:
5% = 17,5
This is enough to start.
First get 1%
17,5 / 5 = 3,5
Now you know 1% = 3,5
You need 100%
3,5 × 100 = 350
350 is the total amount that needed to be paid without the reduction.
The last step is to take the reduction of the 100%
350 - 17,5 = 332,5
This is the amount he needed to paid.

In short:
17,5 / 5 × 100 - 17,5 = 332, 5
Or even faster
17,5 / 5 × 95 = 332,5
(95 is 100% minus the 5% of the reduction)

Yes, I got to that part as well, but the answer is 3.32 and 1/2 according to the book, and the answer is found by subtracting the answer you found by the percentage, i.e 17.5, smh...

God... Not again
It's a good idea asking here, you know. Instead of google of course, everyone goes straight at Google for these tyoes of stuff.
